This month’s quote might sound pretty obvious at first – keeping good food in your fridge means you’ll eat good food – but there’s a deeper meaning hiding just under the surface.
What it really means is that you can’t eat well if you don’t have the ingredients on hand to support that diet. (Eating “well” can mean eating healthily, eating deliciously, or both!) I’ve added watermelon to the quote because, quite simply, you can’t add more watermelon to your diet if you don’t have more watermelon in your fridge.
That’s especially true for me. When I have watermelon at home, I eat it all the time. I’ll have a wedge or two as a snack before dinner. I’ll have some chunks in a bowl for breakfast. I’ll even grill a slice to put on a burger. But when that watermelon runs out, and I’m a few days away from our next trip to the grocery store, guess what happens? That’s right, all those watermelon snacking opportunities disappear.
So what’s the lesson? Keep watermelon in your fridge and you’ll have great snacks on hand at all times!
