To celebrate this delicious occasion, I ate three wedges of watermelon for breakfast and I’m wearing my lucky watermelon socks. Should I be wearing socks with sandals and shorts? Probably not, but it’s National Watermelon Day and they’re the only article of watermelon clothing I own.
If I had other watermelon-themed clothing to wear, I would. And if I were wearing watermelon-themed clothing, I’d probably want to protect it with an apron while working in the kitchen. This month’s prize – a watermelon apron – would definitely help.
The “Powered by watermelon” apron ($22 on Amazon.com) slips over your head and ties at the waist, and even includes two pouches in the front. The apron is great for grilling or just whipping up dinner in the kitchen. It would also come in handy while carving watermelon, which can be a pretty messy activity. Trust me, I know.
I’ll choose one comment at random from all the comments left on the blog this month to receive this protective prize. To get the conversation started, what would you store in the two pouches in the front of the apron? If it were me, I’d fill one pouch with gummy candy and the other with dog biscuits. And guess who’d be the most popular guy in the house with kids and dogs? That’s right, the guy in the watermelon apron.

The one pocket would have cookies and the other would have cheese sticks (have to balance the good with the bad)
OMG! I collect aprons and would love to add this one to my collection! I would keep my favorite watermelon recipe in one of the pouches and I would keep watermelon jolly ranchers (one of my favorite watermelon flavored candies) in the other.
What a great prize!I too had watermelon on National Watermelon day and it was SOOOOOOOO Good! And yes i agree that they can be messy, but it is so worth it.Love that watermelon!
I celebrated National Watermelon Day at breakfast this morning. I added 4 chunks of watermelon to my plate at the all you can eat buffet my husband and I went to. Boy was it ever yummy. Happy National Watermelon Day to all.
I need this apron!!! I turned my whole facebook in to a celebration to National Watermelon Day and I spent Tuesday night with the Mar-Del and South Carolina Watermelon Queens and Eleanor Bullock!! Pick me!
In one pocket a small shevel and the other pocket some watermelon seeds. To start next years crop!!!
Did not know watermelon had a national day! I do know watermelon is tasting so good these days! I am a paper crafter, so I would put my scissors in one pocket and my tape runner in the other. Those two tools are always getting list when I am crafting.
I got my first watermelon of the season at the Farmers Market this week. I found this site by Googling ‘how to store watermelon’. What a great site this is!!! Great information, thanks.
I would store dog treats in one of my pockets too, and the other beeswax lip balm.
One pouch would likely hold a napkin (I’m always wiping spills up off the floor) and the other my smart phone!!!! The apron would be protective AND functional ;-)
