HOW ARE THOSE CARVINGS COMING?

Just a quick entry today to remind everyone about the What About Watermelon Carving Contest. (You like how I combined “What About Watermelon” and “watermelon carving contest”?) You’ve got until August 31 to get your photos in, but you should probably start with a few practice carvings before the final attempt, and National Watermelon Month is as good a time as any to practice carving some watermelon.

To recap, entries will be accepted in two categories: watermelon baskets and “other stuff.” The winner of EACH category, as determined by the votes of watermelon fans across the nation, will receive the ultimate watermelon carving package, consisting of a John Boos maple cutting board, the Kuhn Rikon melon knife (that’s it above) and the Grassland Roads Backyard BBQ Watermelon Plate.

A list of official rules can be found on the original contest blog entry. Good luck and happy carving!
