After two weeks and way more votes than I could ever count (that’s what computers are for), the winner of the National Watermelon Carving Contest has been determined. Before I announce the winner, let me reiterate that all of the entries were great and our four finalists were fantastic, which makes this competition that much more intense.
But you voted, and the winner is (as you probably already realized because you can clearly see the photo below but for the sake of drama I’ll pretend you didn’t)… Taylor I. from Sterling, IL!
Congratulations to Taylor on her victory. Her awesome watermelon guitar was the early favorite and didn’t disappoint in the poll, nabbing 55 percent of the 600-plus votes to cruise to an easy win. For her efforts, she’ll receive the Ultimate Watermelon Carving Kit, which includes a watermelon carving knife (made specifically for cutting watermelon), a really nice cutting board (with a juice groove to catch all the watermelon juice), and a paper towel holder (to hold paper towels, of course).
Thanks again to everyone who submitted carvings. Keep those knives and skills sharp because we might just decide to have another carving contest next summer!
