WELCOME TO THE WATERMELON HOUSE!

The story is told thusly: A few years ago, Wade Wilson and Robert Banaszak hired some painters to paint their two-story brick end row house in the Logan Circle district of Washington, DC. The front of 140-year-old house came out as planned – a nice shade of fire engine red – but the side of the house came out looking a little like “Pepto Bismol” according to Wade and Robert.

Instead of painting over the pinkish side, the two men grabbed some green and black paint and turned their home into a giant slice of watermelon. The “Watermelon House” has become a neighborhood landmark since then. According to a Washington Post article, “everyone loves it” and the colors really come alive at night when the “slightly fluorescent streetlights make it pop.”
