It’s true. Pound-for-pound, watermelons are one of the cheapest fruits or veggies you can buy. That’s even true if you take away the rind. Yep, still way more affordable than anything else.
Like most produce, prices vary depending the season, but you can usually pick up a watermelon for much less than a dollar per pound. Last month, my local store was selling 12 pounders for $3.99 each. That’s only 33 cents a pound! They were normally 58 cents a pound. Still a steal.
