Considering the average watermelon weighs around 20 pounds and yields about 15 pounds of edible goodness, that means the average American eats roughly one whole watermelon per year.
I’m definitely doing my part to boost that average. I’ve been known to eat entire watermelons in the span of a single weekend. In fact, I probably eat enough watermelon each year to support a small town of “average Americans,” but that’s just me. And, on that note, there’s a Tupperware container of watermelon cubes in the fridge with my name on it!

16? I eat 16 pounds of watermelon a week! (yes, I eat a whole melon a week). Lightweights
I know, right? It seems low. I’m guessing there are a lot of people out there who don’t eat ANY watermelon, and that’s what’s bringing the average down. We’ll have to do our best to convince those non-eaters to indulge a bit more.
Wow… I eat lots of it too.
